We have Intervention Time from 8:30-9:00. During this time, students are participating in small groups based on their needs. I also have a group that I am working with.

Modeled Reading
Everyday after lunch, students meet me on the carpet for a story. I usually read a chapter or two from our chapter book. One of our favorite series to read is Junie B. Jones! We always look forward to this time of the day!

Shared Reading
Guided Reading
Guided Reading has many of the same components as shared reading. However, it is conducted with a smaller number of students and focuses more on the individual reading needs of each child. During guided reading, I work with students at their instructional level to help them with decoding and comprehension strategies. While I'm working with my small group of students, the other students are quietly participating in Literacy Centers which focus on writing and the 5 components of reading (Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Comprehension, and Vocabulary).
