Literacy Centers
Literacty Center Expectations
Stay at your own center.
Use quiet voices.
Have all materials with you/put all materials away before moving to new center.
Treat group members fairly.
Follow the Dragon Expectations/Classroom Constitution
Complete work with name and date at the top.
Only interrupt teacher if there is an EMERGENCY.
What are emergencies?
If somebody is bleeding, throwing up, or in danger. (If you feel in danger!!)
Changing Centers
-Students will hear a train sounds which will let them know that they have 1 minute to clean up and stand by their center.
-Students must wait for all groups to finish cleaning up their area before moving to the next center
-Students on the computer must log off when they are told to do so... if this does not happen they may lose computer privileges in the future
-When I give the signal to switch, everyone is to quickly move to their new center and begin working
**Students will get to all 4 centers and Guided Reading everyday**

*Read to self
*Read to a buddy
*Read to a stuffed animal
*Read around the room-students get pointers and read all of the words that they see.
*Listen to reading using a casette player/casette
*Read poetry journal
Word Work Center
Students can...
*Play Phonogram Games (Memory, Phono-go-fish, Make a box with Phonograms, Swat the Phonogram, Toss the ball, Phonogram search, fishing pond, Tic-Tac-Toe with phonograms, etc.)
*Practice their Ice Cream Words by playing memory and by using playdough, magnetic letters, shaving cream, stamps, sand, wikki stix, chalk, dry-erase boards, gel boards, work shakers, and other materials.
*Use puzzles to learn about synonyms, antonyms, homophones, and rhyming words
*FCRR Games
Computer Center/Listening Center
Students MUST...
*Go on to my Symbaloo Website and pick any Purple Tile.
Students will find word games and stories.
Writing Center
Students CAN...
*Write around the room-student get clipboards and write down all of the words they see.
*Write a story
*Make a list.
*Write a letter to a friend or Ms. A (She will write back)
*Work on a story from Writing Workshop
*Use Fancy Pens and special paper to create stories
